Yup Joe I think youve been had. There is no reasonable reason to install intake seats and 452s do not have a problem with recession even with 181 . What do I base that on? Experience Not one ever single problem in race or street engines with valve seat recession in 452s.
906s and earlier we put in ex seats as a matter of course and 340 X heads as well. Intakes run cool as they have constant cooling from the Air fuel ratio. Exhausts run at red hot temp literally . Of course a lean engine will agravate the sitiuation and exhaust seats and ex valve guides will take a severe beating because of the excessive heat from a lean mixture. When the engine can't find fuel to burn it takes the next thing which is usually any exhaust parts and if your real unlucky a piston or two as well.
