There has been a lot of discussion about crate Hemis. As stated by someone on this board, the engines are not assembled by Chrysler and there have been a lot of problems with the contractors. The jury is still out on whether the quality control issues have been resolved. Disassembly and re-assembly is recommended. A harsh judgment on the Mopar flagship. I am not sure how long they have been doing the motors. They are supposed to be doing pretty good, heck look at the Diesels. I have heard of some of the horror stories. Talked to a guy locally that put a crate hemi in a low mileage '66 Charger and he went through 2 motors and had to go into both, at Chrysler's expense. I also heard that John Aruzza, another local, you know the famous Hemi builder, was fixing the screw ups in the crate motors. I would personally buy a motor assembled by someone such as John Aruzza to assemble one for me. He uses Mopar blocks and then works his magic!
