SOME of the "truck" engines had 4 bolt valve covers. 'Spose I shouldnt give away all my secrets, but hey, its something to check out.
Friend of mine bought 2 361 military truck engines at an auction. Both had 4 bolt valve covers, sealed distributors (waterproof)and holley carbs with built in govenors.
I remember people telling me that those truck engines "must be international engines. Oddly enough, they do look similiar. The distributor is a dead giveaway thought as no other engine has such an angled distributor.
I have also seen some truck engines NOT have the rod ends of the crankshaft hollowed out. I have seen this on 318 polys as well, but I dont know if thats the case on all the "truck" engines. this will make for a stronger, but heavier crank. (good for truck engines) This area can be hollowed out, so I am told.
one more good thought,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,some of the later RB truck engines had 6-pak rods in them(so I am told)
