well, they are both A engine parts aren't they? Perhaps just the vacuum advance and styling of the points (or magnets) might be a little different??? You should compare the two.

I'm replacing a distributor on a 340 4bbl, '71 engine. The parts house sent  
me a rebuilt unit and the invoice says it's for a 1971 318 2bbl. Are they the  
same? Parts house is closed so I can't ask them. I'd sure hate to start this  
and find that it's the wrong one. Can anybody confirm this for me asap?
