Couldnt agree more, but this is only a temporary engine, as I am saving
all $ for the 440 crank 400 block engine build up. The #5 journal has
about .0037 clearance while the others I believe are .0025. Its been
awhile since I plastic guaged it, and I think those are the number I
got. Rods are fine, and over all the crank is in good shape.

Just trying to get the car under its own power. The 400 stroker engine I
wish to build will have Eddy heads, Racer Brown solid cam, forged slugs,
holley street dominator intake and hooker super comps.

Thats serious change, so I need save all I can now, but would like the
car mobile with the 383 I have for it now. I have a set of good 346
heads, a mild erson cam, and hooker comp headders. Most of which I have
gotten in trade or at a very low cost. The engine ran well before I got
it, but it had been in a flood, and wasnt very clean inside. Since I had
the time I thought I would simply freshen it, but that #5 main journal
has me concerned. Many people have said the .0037 isnt much of a
concern, but if I can get a .001 over bearing that would put me at
approx .0025, making me feel better.

Again its only temporary, the eddy heads and the rotating assembly of my
400 stroker engine are the big items holding me up.

Doc.
