Oooooooooooooh, well that explains it, the dome light in my wagon has not been in use since the rotten headliner was removed years ago! That explains a lot. And no I don't feel it is weird that the dash bulbs have no leads, they are incorporated into kind of a large electrical board and they tie into the main wiring plug on the back.

Greetings,

It turns out, apparently, that you *have* to have a bulb in
the dome light fixture for any of the interior lights to work.
I checked the fixture, and found it empty.  I then retrieved
an old bulb I found in the glove box (burned out) and
stuck it in the fixture.  Bingo!  Dash lights.

Anybody else think it's weird that none of the dash bulbs
have wire leads?
