thanks for the info on the production numbers in 1963, i guess this one here is the 4 door sedan, so, 9,000 custom 880s were made in 63, huh, that is alot more than thought before. more customs 880s were made than regular 880s, damn, i thought it was special, ha, just kidding, i like the car and would get it from my friend joe if i had time/money, because he is looking to sell it and dont know what to ask for it. i saw some beaten up junkyard versions for 4000$ on the autotrader type selling site, but, i dont think joe would take that for his dodge. he tells me if thats all it would bring, he is gonna keep it. although he did have an offer to trade a 2 bedroom house for the dodge straight up, haha. i may tell him to jump on it. thanks for the details in your email, it helped confirm what i was finding out, that it is rare, but not upside down stamp rare.

thanks again..

mike..

The Custom 880 was introduced in January 1962 and was a 1962 Newport with a
1961 Dodge front clip, dash and interior. Trim bits were taken from the
1960 DeSoto, 1961 New Yorker, 1962 Dart 440 and 1962 Polara 500. In
reality, though, the 1962 Newport was a 1961 Polara with a Chrysler front
clip, dash, interior and new, finless rear quarters.

The 880 series was introduced for1963 and was a cheaper series - less chrome
and a less fancy interior. Both the 880 and the Custom 880 were built in
1963 (with new front end and taillamps) and 1964 (new grille and revised
back end).

The 1965 Custom 880 was a totally new car based on the Chrysler's new C
body - a fancy Polara in reality.

As for production in 1963 :

880 :
4-door sedan - 7,197
4-door, 2-seat wagon - 1,727
4-door, 3-seat wagon - 907
Total - 9,831

Custom 880 :
4-door sedan - 9,233
2-door hardtop - 2,804
4-door hardtop - 2,564
2-door convertible - 822
4-door, 2-seat hardtop wagon - 1,647
4-door, 3-seat hardtop wagon - 1,365
Total - 18,435

TOTAL 1963 - 28,266

hi gary, thanks for replying with that link, i have found a lot of links but
that one eluded me. i did notice the notice the 62 chrysler in the 63 dodge,
after looking into this car i found that from the firewall forward is the 62
chrysler or from the firewall back, not sure which. the link you provided
gave me the list of production models made in the corresponding year, but i
dont see a 63 dodge "custom" 880, where as in 62, it listed 62 custom 880's
and not again until 65 was a custom 880 listed. was just wondering, because
that is one of the things my frien joe is so excited about. he had heard 30
were made in 63. i am also wondering is the difference between a 63 custom
880 and and a 63 dodge 880 are just a few trim pieces.

thanks,

mike..
