I'd say a mid nineties Chevy 3/4 ton 6.5L turbo deisel with a towing package
would work great. We have one of these, they aren't that noisy, in fact when
you are inside with the windows up, you can't really tell its a deisel. And
the get great gas mileage compared to big v-8 gasoline trucks, even during
towing. But if you get one of these and its an automatic (4L-80E) make
absolutely sure its been all updated. Our truck was brand new, 1993, ten
years later the over drive gear turned out to be the weak spot if its not
updated, so we found out the hard way. Other than this, ten years of heavy
work, and even every day driving, and the trans was the only break down
ever.

I'm considering replacing my daily driver 2004 Concorde with something I
can tow my car with on a trailer. Say 6000# rating. What does the group
suggest?
I'm not thrilled with the noise of a diesel but I could take that as long
as the "Boss" will let us use the PT for the social occasions that require
a more dignified vehicle.
I'm leaning towards the Durango. But, I hate the sub 20 mpg mileage on
these.
Is the Dakota up to the task and can it hold its own against the 18
wheelers and the wind blast? Thanks.
