I just put my 383 in my 64 without the tranny and it was ok. The t\727 was kind of big even with the leveler on the picker. Last weekend put a 350w/350 turbo in my sons Nova and it wasn't the easiest, but it went in. If you don't want scratches and bangs on your firewall, just do the engine alone. But everyone has their own opinion. I just painted my engine compartment and didn't want it banged.

put them in together / leave the crank pulley off so engine will go over rad
cross member easier / leave car on floor and raise engine /tranny as much as
needed

Getting ready to install a BB and 727 in my 63 Fury. Is it best to put
the engine in first and then the trans or is it relatively easy to put
both in while bolted together? Just how far off the floor does the car
have to be to get both in? I have a cherry picker with load leveler.
