Torsion bar question

Got a small problem in the evening when I tried to mount my new dragrace torsion bars,I did what I always done before many years ago (late ´80 in my Drag Satellite -66),just let lose adjusting bolts and let down lower arms and put the torsionbars in.My problem now is that I cant remember if its possible to mount them wrong in hexfittings?Cause there is a small cut across the ends under markings in both ends,where just thinking why there is cuts? Where just thinking they should be horizontal in the hexfittings? 
Hoping for an answer!!
