the phone who knows what they are talking about. I have never - I mean 
never - had a good experance with them. They are all about craming parts

It is maddening.  These guys not only claim to be experts,  all the Mopar
print media outlets routinely make similar claims in various tech articles
on their behalf (perhaps in exchange for free or discounted parts that the
journalist were bolting on to their project Roadrunner or Coronet R/T....
MGC is possibly excluded, because they don't do tech articles,  ....)

I called Randy's about 5 or 6 years ago when I discovered this very same
axle length problem myself on my 63 Dodge...  the tech guy I spoke with
continually pimped the green bearings saying it'd solve all the end-play
adjustment problems,,,  to which I made several attempts to describe the
problem in different terms, hoping he'd get it.  Even when I stated that the
thrust block on the two different diff's  measured out to different widths,
and even pointed out the different PNs on the axles...  he *still* insisted
that green bearings would fix it.  I finally gave up and told him "thanks,
but no thanks", to which I think he ended with another pimpin' of those
F@#$!*ing green bearings!!!

Certainly you and I aren't the only ones to ever call them about this
issue,   yet despite making 8-3/4"s their business and claiming
to have knowledgable tech guys on staff, they *still* won't address this.

I'm sorry to hear that you are in this situation.  I ended up using a 66-67
b-body housing & rear.  For me, that was a means to an end.
