is this a question of the radiator not having a
cooler?

with a 2400 stall, the rad cooler should be fine,
unless your pulling something.

i run a 4500 stall on the street/strip, goes through
the rad then a cheap rv cooler, back to the trans.
the needle only comes of the peg (140) when i am
running races back to back with no cool down time,
my engine runs about 170-180 on hot days, and the
trans will heat to about 150 when the car is at
180.(that is in stop and go type cruising)

i believe the trans is usually about 20 deg hotter
than the engine in a stock set-up.
