Manual steering was cheaper! if you have ever been on a dragstrip at the
high end, a little steering goes a long way, so the power could really
oversteer you off the track but a good manual steering setup will allow you
to feel the road and stay straight at hig speed. not great for parallel
parking. I love the power steering and being able to park withone finger,
but it does make me nervous crossing the line at the end of the track. the
maunal unit is also about 50 to 80 lbs lighter that the pump, fliud, Huge
cast iron power housing and the manual is aluminum and tucks nicely out of
the way. fewer parts, fewer leaks, fewer accessories draining power off the
crank.
