Vicki,

They can always be repaired. The issue is that your sometimes
can't get the original core type. But a good radiator shop can
get a replacement type core that will work, and use your tanks.
They have to be custom ordered, and are not cheap. I have had
a few done over the years this way. The new cores don't heat
as well as the old ones, but they work ok.
