 During one of my other lives I was service managaer for a large shop (17 emloyees) here in Belleville. 
One morning a man came to the counter wanting his charging system checked on his Merecdes 220  .
I was a bit hesitant. i guess as I was trying to think of which tech to give it to so I wouldnt wind up doing it. The customer immediately sensed my concern and said "believe me you wont have any trouble, trust me." When we got the car inside we opened the hood to find a slant six complete with mopar charging system and torqueflight  trans all neatly installed in the Mercedes. He exlained that the engine had failed unexpectantly and the rebuild costs were unreasonable and out of the question for him. In his words , not mine , he stated, "it gets better mileage runs smoother drives quieter and has about twice the power as it did before." 
We also had a neighbor with a 56 ford 1/2 ton with a slant six pushbutton trans swap.
