Some things I have learned over the years about blasting:
  Don't use a whole bag of blast media at once,it does wear out after all, and it's nice to have some fresh.
  Clean the piece to be blasted as well as you can,by wire brush, scaper,etc.
  NO oily or greasy parts until they are rid of that junk.
  Preheat the parts to be blasted to remove the relative humidity from them. ( I have the definition of "relative humidity" that I cannot post on this site.)
