I always look at batteries in restored cars, seeing a beatiful paint job then seeing a Walmart battery is not a great look. I have been getting Napa batteries that are matte black with flat top, remove stickers and battery doesn't stand out as much as a cheap looking battery.  The last one lasted 10 years being on trickle charge. I also have a set of old green caps I might place on top. Remember, I believe 64 was the last year for the Tar Top battery, then they went to the typical look with the caps, yellow, green and red. battery disguise kits.

 I think the cap color was a quick visual to indicate the amp rating
of the battery.   Yellow 48 amp Green 59 amp
