Im putting together a 1974 727TF that came from a 1974 dodge truck
with a 440. So yes by 1974, that 440 was most surely a cast crank external balance motor. But, of course , several parts are bad and I have two other BB trannies to pull parts from to create a frankenstein, a 1967 and a 1969, both of which were most likely steel crank/internally balanced motors. For instance the rear drum is toasted but I have a real nice rear drum from the 1969 transmission I want to stick in there. But the 74 drum has 5 holes drilled all the way through it and the 69 drum has three holes partially drilled into it, but not through. Is this an issue??
Thanks all.
