I guess it also depends on how "original" you want or just "looks good" at the end. I suspect most people at a car show would have no idea what the 1964 factory-fresh Dodge dash plastic looked like anyway. :)

There are several vendors who, as Dave referred to, do plastic chrome plating, for example,  GCarTrim, Special T's Unlimited, Inc., Instrument Specialties etc. listed on the vendor's page:

Yes, also per Dave, DIY is possible with the right equipment and practice. Like much else!  :)
