Re: 727 Loadflite questions

Sherman was right. Upon closer inspection, this thing is basically just like the 727 from my  poly 318  1965 coronet. Tail housing excluded. One hole for the cable and adjuster wheel, a parking pawl housing on underside at the back , and one arm for kickdown.  There are two cables that come out of the shifter (which is weirdly yet cool up on the dash). One would be for the gears, one for the parking pawl. But it's not like my old 63 belvedere that had a seperate arm to flip for park.  It's all integrated into one PRND21 Bezel.
And to think, just a couple weeks ago I almost posted  the coronet tranny for FREE on craigslist, but now I see I need to keep it just in case of a catastrophic explosion or something.

I have  a little more info on the tranny today. Ran up to Washington yesterday and got the engine and tranny., and a bunch of other stuff to make the tow home lighter when I bring back the van. The tranny is a 19 spline input shaft unit. Gary Pavlovich told me that in 1967 these changed to a 23 spline input. As for the rest there is a spot for a cable and one arm sticking out which I believe would be your kickdown lever. I looked the van over well and luckily all  the cables appear to be there. Also all the correct throttle linkage and kickdown.  I am sure this will be a learning experience as these seem to be a red headed step child in many ways.
I will post a picture of the tranny later today.

I assume that means LoadFlite A-100 cable shift trans were only made in 1964 and 1965.
Which contradicts the Fbook  A-100 group's opinion, at least if I understand their opinions as reported by Neal.

Thanks,
