I am putting new quarter panels on my off topic (1968) Mopar. When I removed the originals I found a flesh/tan colored sealer of some sort between the wheel opening flange of the quarter and the wheelhouse lip. Basically where the spot welds are at the wheel opening. I couldn't figure out how you could get it in there unless you applied it to the wheelhouse lip before quarters were hung.
Does anybody know if that's what they did at the factory and what the product was. It was not hard but kind of gummy or spongy. I guess it could be some kind of goop or maybe a dum-dum type putty.
I am thinking /worrying about this as I wonder how you keep water from getting between those two surfaces.
Thanks,
