I recommend pulling the entire column out. You can install the seal from
the bottom end if you remove the coupling box ( pin thru shaft will need
to be pressed out). That will let you inspect and lubricate the
coupling. Or you can disassemble the top end to get to the seal. I
usually find the long procedure is best.
