Hi all. Last week I mentioned dropping the fuel tank out of the 65 coronet. Nasty inside indeed. Smelly gas and lots of rust crystals inside. I was going to have it dunked at the dip-n-strip but the guy was so rude on the phone, I refused to pay him any money.
So I got it pretty nice in there with several handfuls of wood screws ( swish-swish, turn, repeat ,for about 3 hours) followed by two cycles of muriatic acid , followed by two boxes of baking soda to neutralize. Looks pretty good in there.
But I am wondering about it just rusting up again. There's a very light flash rush in places in there. Not bad though.
What's your thoughts on lining it with some POR15 tank liner or some other product. Anybody ever done this before? I haven't. Or should I just run it as is.
