My 63 was a 313 car (Can 318 smaller bore ) so I had no worries about destroying the value with a 426. Besides it is a Canadian bult car. (easily identified by the aluminum semi oval hand stamped and painted vin plate) and has like all Canadian built Dodges from Chrysler Canada a Plymouth style interior. Despite its wonderful condition I think it would be for that reason a hard car to get the bucks out of. My Southern neighbours dont seem to understand this is original interior but often say" you put a Plymouth dash in it!" (Like anybody actually would go to that bother) my bowtie friends have the same problems with their Beaumonts and the Chevelle crowd as did the Prostock crowd with the Pro Stock Astre Race cars in the seventies. (Beaumont is a Chevelle style car with Chevy engine that was sold by Pontiac Canada. The Astre was the Canadian Pontiac version of the Chevy Vega) Becuase of that I built the car strictly for my own personal enjoyment hoping it will still be mine when I cross "the great divide",
However what we have done with some cars and have also encouraged customers to do when they have a numbers matching or equivalent combo and want a killer motor for the cruise night scene is to set the original motor and trans aside , well oiled and wrapped in plastic and built a seperate combo for playing. That way should they ever want to sell it or restore it to original the good stuff is all intact and unmodified. This has worked out very well.
