Hi Neal,

Hopefully this shows you what you are looking for. The first released is between the top of the grill, and the bottom of the hood. There's a  recess in the hood that allows clearance for the latch lever,, and for you to reach your hand up there and grab it.

If you need other pics, please let me know.

  The issue regards the "first" hood latch. . This is  the one you reach up in there , throw the lever , the hood pops up, and then you release the secondary safety catch.As I have installed it, for the life of me , I can't figure out how you would access it, except by reaching through the grille with a screwdriver, and I know that can't be right. My lever has a hole near the tip that I thought might have been for some kind of cable pull remote release, but there was nothing like that on the car when I got it.
