If you REALLY want to see salt races - head to the Great Lakes area (specifically Michigan) during the wintertime, and watch the drivers on I-75 or I-94. They put down enough salt on the roads there to cover a billion pounds of popped popcorn - daily!

Salty roads + crazy stupid drivers = salt races!

I want to go watch some salt races this summer. I am a day and a half
drive from Utah. When do they run them at Bonneville?
Dont they do them in California somewhere too?
I guess theres a small window of oppurtunity, they only do them once
a year.
Anybody ever seen these in person?
Is it worth the trip?
I was reading about early salt racers last nite and thought, man I
want to see this!
