I bought a '65 Barracuda from a preacher when I was 23. He was the original owner and we talked at length several times about the car. Interesting story - he purchased the car brand new in Alaska while he was stationed there with the military. Probably one of the only red on red '65 Barracudas sold in Alaska. He was transferred quite a bit during his tenure and the car was his only transportation. That car has been to more states and places than I have (after all it is only 2 years older than me - :-).

He told me all about the history of the car, the place he purchased it, but the most interesting piece of the whole deal was his thought process in buying the car. He really wanted that car, not a Rustang or Camaro, but that particular car, color scheme, motor and all. Now that car is in a happy home with one of our members. Each car has a story and so do we because of it. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I think those kind of thoughts are part of what makes us like old cars,
and it's also a side effect of getting older, I believe. I tell my wife
that I don't really OWN my Polara, I'm just the current caretaker of it
till I can no longer drive it and in that time if I can make it a better
car for the next owner, it's a labor of love. That's the story I tell my
wife and I'm sticking to it!!
