I've never seen a 64 with a 904.
The 727 is a trapazoid shaped pan.

I have a 64 Belvedere with the original 318 and automatic. I has
assumed that it had a 727 but was recently told that it may have a 904.
Is there an easy way to tell the difference between the two
transmissions?
What is the difference in automatic transmissions in 1964 for the
larger engines such as the 361, 383, 413 or 440?
Thanks
