I went to the Turkey Rod Run in Daytona today and while in the swap meet area I came across Jerry of J & J cars and parts. I've done business with him in the past and although he seems a little pricey he has a huge inventory of parts.
I was looking through his booth and came across a very nice front bumper for a 65 Belvedere. I asked Jerry about it and he said he got it at an old dealership that had closed down in Alabama. He said it was in their store room covered with dust with some other bumpers and was never mounted on a car before. It has no marks around the bolt holes and not a pit to be found. It dose have a small spot about the size of a half dollar where the chrome is slightly flaking.
He was asking 350.00 for it but said he "would work with me" on the price. I told him I'd think about it and went over to the Bumper Boyz space to see what they were asking for a rechromed one. 275.00 with an exchange, 375.00 straight up.
What would be a fair price for the NOS bumper and should I be concerned about the flaking chrome?
Opinions anyone?
