Hey Tom, I just went out to look at my 65 Belvert and as you mentioned it
also has the short armrests with the ashtray. I had believed this to be wrong
sense all the pictures I had seen had the long armrests that attache in front
of the door release. However I haven't been able to see the interior of a
convertible.
As far as the door locks, mine will not lock by pushing down the knob and
closing the door. It will lock with the door closed and pushing down the knob
but for what ever reason my key won't turn the lock.
The dimmer switch on mine is just below the park brake when it is engaged,
or just above the bend in the side kick panel.
Hope some of this helps......curious about those armrests though, what are
the chances of both of our cars having the wrong armrests? Is it possible
that this is an assembly line mistake or assembly plant specific? My car was
assembled at the Lynch Road plant in Detroit.
   Who knows?
