The motors and switches are very easily identified. The Variable speed motor has a drive gear /parking switch housing about 4" in diameter ,whereas the single speed motor had a gear housing that is much smaller (about 3"). The switch for a variable speed is also fairly large and contains a rheostat (you can turn the knob about 3/4 turn without feeling any detents). The single speed switch is just a switch on or off ,click.click and is just a little guy about the same size as the fan switch. The wiring differences prevent one switch from being used in place of another. There were no two speed wipers.Variable speed is the best for obvious reasons. and the '63 motor assembly does not interchange with '64 one. Secondly what about the switches, any way to ID those easily?? Thirdly, what would happen if they were mismatched, say a multi speed motor and a one speed switch , for instance . Still trying to figure out this darn wiper/ alt. gauge problem, about ready to start cussin!!!
