If you're an ol hot rodder like me, restored means anything from original to personalized. Most of the time us ol rodder types prefer the custom paint and suped up motors. >From watching car prices, the trend in the past 15 years is that hot rods are bringing more than restored cars if it is just a normal car, not a hemi cuda or max wedge car. The bottom is falling out of the older 30's original stuff, unless it is a special car, because all the guys who grew up with those cars are dieing off. I guess it will happen to us some day. I think technically your right, "restored" means an original car, but that term has been diluted quite a bit in the past few years. I like cars that show some personality, but I don't like to see rare cars in the hands of some hillbilly Clampet type. I also think clones are cool, as long as the guy does not pass it off as an original. You can sure build a hemi cuda from a 318 car much cheaper than you could buy an original. It is all good, if it is a car.... Earl Is it just me or am I missing something, when I see the term "restored" I expect the car to be as built, isn't there another term for cars that have been gone through and have had changes made such as paint or wheels? Does "restified" fit? Personally I'm driving a restified clone. Bob 64 Fury Max Wedge convert I have a general question for the group (which might spawn into varying other topics, I hope). Here goes: Would you tend to stay with factory colors and finishes when restoring your car? I mean exterior paint, interior fabric, carpet, etc. I realize it's an expression of what and who to derail but given the option. Would you prefer to stay with VIN OEM schemes? What if they weren't that nice? Does it effect value that much? I'm trying to decide which road to go down.
