I have tried after market voltage limiters, that made the gauges read high. Drives you nuts when the gauges "work" better than they ever did. The whole scale gets used at times, and you just never know for sure if it's believable. The limiter can be checked with a volt meter and a jumper lead. They are electro-mechanical devices, that "average" 5 volts to the gauges, when they work correctly. They can be adjusted slightly with a small set screw on the bottom, but you need to test with a volt meter, to see where you are going. I have an old Mopar mag, with an article about updating to electronic components, to control the output voltage to "exactly" 5 volts. You can make the modifications to the back side of the instrument panel, or get trick, and rework an old voltage limiter, to make it a "plug in" device. The parts run about $5. max. at Radio Shack. I just modified a voltage limiter recently, and it cost me $2.50, and a little time at the work bench. I can share info with anybody interested. Intermittent loss of those two gauges, really sounds more like a ground problem to me. Tom in Dallas =========================================================== Empower your Team with Remote Access.
