it's not the tabs or the location so much as the fact that the mounts bolt on and sorta fit, but the part numbers (2227 drivers, 2228 pass.) say they are on the wrong sides from where they seem to fit... do the earlier blocks have the 1 bolt tab towards the front and the 2 bolt tab towards the back?

No you are not stupid of an idiot. some times the later blocks have a little different mounting tabs on the engine that throw of the brackets and you have to get different mts.

can anyone w/ an original 65 coronet big block pleeeease send me a couple of digital photos of the motor mounts? mine appear to be all f'ed up. i bought bb mounts at the nats about 10 years ago, and by the time i put the motor in, he old motor was sold, and i forgot to look at the mounts for reference. so i put them in and they appeared to fit. later, i broke one and went to replace it, only to find that they are seemingly on the wrong sides of the car. i tried to switch them side-to-side, and tried to switch the brackets as well, but it seems like they can only go on one way. did i buy bogus adapters? or am i just stupid? or both?
  thanx, dodger
