A few years back a friend of mine from MI drove his 74 Duster slant 6 904 PS
AC car down from Ann Arbor MI to the Nats and he got 27 MPG. Now bear in
mind that was at a steady 55. My 65 slant 4 speed gets nearly 22 with some
(not a lot) in town and mostly highway at a steady 70. I would venture to
guess it would do much better at a slower speed, but, what the hey anyway.
The 60 - 66 A Bodies were the lightest in the whole A Body run so it stands
to reason they should get better mileage than the later ones. Definitely
should get better mileage than a heavier B Body, but not a lot more. Had a
71 Charger slant 6 with highway gears that got decent mileage but sure what
a slug starting out.
