I was afraid this would be the answer. Do you own a puller or rent one? I called a few places and all they have are gear pullers and no guarantees it will work. I'm going to make some inquiries around here (Boston). This is something that attached to the studs and pulls the edges of the drum, right? Anybody local to me got one? I'll drive and buy the beer or whatever. Tom: What you have is the last year of the tapered axle. You will need a drum puller to get that drum off. It must be a heavy duty puller. I just did it to my '64 convertible. Back off the brake linings first. Put the puller on and tighten. Then you need to hit the puller several times on the screw that is putting pressure on the axle. Also, I had to hit the drum several times on the opposite side (actually the outside) of where the linings touch the drum. It took me several hours to get my drum off.
