As each piston is raised to top dead center for cleaning, the grease will fill the void. After cleaning the piston top with a wire brush, you could use a tooth pick to remove the grease from the piston/wall area . Lower the piston, and wipe the cylinder walls with an oily rag. That should remove the remaining grease and lubricate the cylinder walls too. Just an idea.
