Hi Dan,
Thanks for the quick and very helpful suggestion.  It happens to be that my 
parking brake cable is not connected(only recently purchased car, trying to 
fix one thing at a time).   This would seem to be the problem and will check 
it tomorrow.  Thanks again, this web ring rules.
