Jim does know how to make torque so i think you will be surprised. 
RE comp ratio vers pressure: the factor is comp PSi divided by 1.31 for sea level on a warm engine but because of the camshaft thing etc that will give you "effective compresssion ratio" which, when you think about it, is what really matters anyway although we are used to thinking in terms of only cylinder and head volume ( Full volume vrs smallest volume.)

It is 1.31 because the air in the cylinder heats up on compression (See Bolyes law and Charles law) This heating adds pressure above the straight machanical ratio.
