Ga refers to the wire gage ( Thickness or diameter, as of sheet metal or 
wire ), which determines the current carrying capacity of the wire. A 
lower number is a heavier wire - allowing more current to pass. thus a 
10 ga wire will pass more current than a 16 ga wire.
