I don't beleive that it is a 741 case, it is a 8 3/4 housing, and yes the 
carrier will swap, there was a question about axle length between SG and open as 
to axle length, if you do not change the whole housing, you will still have 
the tapered axles to to contend with, as the axles will not interchange
