RE: Dual Master Cylinder

Hi Wally, yep it was - they were sold in the UK as Austin, Morris, Riley or
even MG 1300's, and you are so right, they were not examples of 'fine
British engineering' - their motor industry self imploded!

I remember a story about Lucas who made most of the headlamps - they got an
order from a Japanese manufacturer, not sure of the quantity, but say it was
10 000 lamps - they shipped 10500 - and the Japanese asked why, the answer
was simple but a bit concerning - they knew they had a 5% failure rate so
they always shipped 5% over................rather than fix the problem!

Don't know Bruce - but I would be very interested in his web address - yep
mine is right hand drive, assembled in NZ (62 and 63 were here) and has the
'62 dash I think rather than a Valiant one. They were all 313 auto poly's
here when new unless imported

Hi Rich
This is not related to the brake problem but I've got a hard
time picturing a
BMC 1300,was it an Austin based car? We had all kinds of stuff imported
here(Canada)
everthing from Austin Cambridges,Austin America 1100 ,
the Austin 2200 ,MG's ,Oxfords, Triumph TR series and Spitfire,Sprites ,
Hillman Minx ,the Mini, Hillman Avenger (Plymouth Cricket) and I worked on
quite a bit of it . The climate just plain did these cars in, so you'd be
hard pressed to find anything now. The whole BMC became a laughing stock in
the seventies .The TR7 was kind of the last hurrah and the car car was
plagued with problems ,mostly electrical and body.
Even the XJ series Jaguars had a hard time surviving and I'd be surprised
to find one (if not rusted badly) still running with its original
powerplant, as the small block chevy was the replacement engine of choice.
I'm not sure how well connected the hobby is in Austrailia but do you know
Bruce Cresswell, I'm amazed at his 63 Dodge website.
Is your Dodge right hand drive and does it used the Valiant Dashboard?
