SS Springs - Length

It appears that the SS springs front length is 20" - that's from the eye 
of the spring to the pin that holds the springs together at the perch.  
I measured the front length on my wife's stock (?) '65 Satellite and 
they are 22".

Should we use the extended hangers on our '65 cars if we use the SS 
springs?
