My first Mopar experience was with the official teenager's car in the family. It was a 64 Polara 500 (383) that dad felt more comfortable letting his kids learn to drive. He paid $500 for it in '78 and sold it for the same in '85. The first (and so far, only) mopar I bought was a standard 64 Polara (318). I was in the middle of grad school. Instead of paying for it the old fashioned way like all you hard working types, I paid for it the postmodern way--I used some of my student loans! Since I'm only three years into repayment (with 27 more to go), I guess I'm still paying for the car. Bummer I just sold it. -----Original Message----- From: georlrs@xxxxxxx [mailto:georlrs@xxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, March 16, 2004 9:05 PM To: 1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: dumb thread I have to admit, I bought my first 67 Dodge Polara 383 slapstick 2 dr complete with fender skirts when I was 15 yrs old. I am 39 now. It was bought from dishwashing as well. The down side is that I never got to drive it, and the guy that bought it from me for 800.00 still owes me 300.00. The worst part was he was a good childhood friend up until that time.
