The sequence number is the nth vehicle off the line. There is a prefix to the number, which was a letter in the 1960's and a number or letter in the 1970's. Do not know what the purpose of the prefix is, but I suspect it is related to the car line and series. I believe the sequence number is unique to the plant and not total production. The sequence number can change due to availability of parts or the need to produced a vehicle ASAP. My 1978 Dodge Monaco Brougham (SON 526-035355) had a sequence number of A-230171 on the broadcast sheet printed 0609 on 05-12. and SN A-230329 on the sheet printed at 1643 on 0512. Something came up that it had to be moved 158 cars later in the line, but the SON and VIN were not changed. I have a broadcast sheet for a 1965 Valiant 200 sedan, SON 107-00544 (built 10-7-64) with a sequence number of S-7311. What is the sequence number on your 1965 Barracuda?
