I like the sound of your statement, "I'm determined to everything I can myself." That's the spirit...
There's nothing like the satisfaction of doing a job, particularly a job you've never done before, and looking back and being able to say, "I did that." And to be able to tell others the same thing, rather than tell them how much it cost to get someone else to do it.
If there are areas where you have doubts about your abilities, seek help, seek out someone who can show you the way to do it yourself. Learn, too, who is the best person to ask for such help. I think that last point is the secret to it all.
But don't be afraid to spend time studying the workshop manual, don't be afraid to spend a lot of time looking at cars with a similar setup from original to learn exactly what parts were different. K-frame? master cylinder? Transmission tunnel? Radiator and shroud?
I would also suggest that you shouldn't be afraid to use more modern items where advancing technology has improved things dramatically. It's your car and it should be built how you want it to be and to make it more usable to you is a task you should set for yourself. A couple of 'for instances':
1. Air conditioning. Old piston-style compressors have gone by the board, much smaller and more efficient rotary units are a dime a dozen if you start looking in wrecking yards.
2. Rear axles and brakes. Some here have tackled this before, they might better advise on exactly which axle shafts to use to eliminate the tapered axles. Not that there's anything really wrong with tapered axles, but they do raise doubts in the minds of some. Just changing the lugs and drums overcomes most problem areas - like how to make it easy to get to the brakes to work on them.
3. Transmission and driveshaft. You've already stated you're going with a floor change, so the later 727 ('66 and up) is your best choice there. That brings into play the sliding yoke driveshaft for simplicity in this item. You will find one the right length if you scout around wreckers.
Most important... now you've decided to do things yourself, don't let anyone tell you that you can't. You can. I have done all my life, so I know it's all possible.

I'm dismantling my 64 Sport Fury for restoration. It will go back together with a date correct 426 MW, 390 rear rear gears, A727 floor shift. I don't know how interested or how little interested everyone will be, but I've never taken on a set of tasks
this complex with a car, the reason being I'm determined to do everything I can myself.
Question: As I move along, should I append this thread with notes and pictures. or start new threads? I intend to post about what I'm doing, what works for me, what didn't work, products and techniques used, etc.
Your thoughts are valuable to me, so appreciate anything care to add.
