Re: Frame rails



Someone else posted about US Car Tool that seems familiar too. Anyway, the frame rail and crossmember caps nestle up directly to the upper flange of the original frame rail, right at the floor. We used a twisted wife cup brush on a grinder to clean it all, then tacked the repair pieces in place with the k frame snugged in place so everything was aligned. Then filled in welds until completely solid welds. My son used the car as his daily driver here in Indiana with studded snow tires for snow and ice (and of course the accompanying salt) from ‘98 through graduating college in 2004. Now it’s just a fun car. But the pieces were built heavy and solid. I know there’s lots of speculation I’m just saying what our experience is which is 100% positive as far as holding up for decades including rust belt driving. But I’m afraid I don’t know any better about where to get something for 62-65 than anyone has found so far. I’ve bought parts from wildcat and had them shipped including a whole ‘62 quarter so that’s probably where I would call if new parts suppliers like Joe Suchy don’t have anything.
