Re: Master Part Catalog Help

Bill
Thanks for the details
My build date is
0328 Mar 28 1962

I am referring to Wheels section 22 -01-42 in the 62 book ,page 22-3
I do not have any pages with notes that refer to serial numbers or dates in my book, it could be missing.
I am looking at part number 2265638
62, sport fury's came with two styles of wheel covers, a blank style versus nine ribs on the outer ring
Bottom line is I'm just trying to figure out which  wheel covers are on my March built car

Changes in parts (and thus part numbers), usually are noted by the serial number at which the change took place.  You would need the build record to know the date the car was built, but the VIN is on the car and easy to note.

Also, some parts use the serial number of the assembly.  For example, the 1962 Plymouth 6 and Dodge Dart 6 with the A-904 used part number 2204 841 up to transmission case serial number 523930 and then A-904 number 2400 155 starting at case number 523930.

Some part number changes are noted with the parts being changed (as in the A-904 above - in section 21-02-1) while others have the notes at the beginning of the section.

I have the Canadian 1962 parts book, Revised edition, February, 1962 as well as the American 1962 parts book, Revised March 8, 1963.

In the Canadian book "Up to" and "After" are mentioned in section 23-43-42 (Roof Panel O/S Fin Side Frt / Rr) with part numbers 2255 730-1 and 2255 734-5 as "After."   Those part numbers are not listed in the Numerical Index.  And there is no information as to what is After or Up To,

In the American book, those "After" part numbers are not listed anywhere in section 23 (Body Section).   The only numbers listed are the numbers in the Canadian parts book as "Up To" - 2216 042-3 and 2216 046-7.  As with the Canadian book, the "After" numbers are not listed in the Numerical Index of the American parts book..

In this particular situation it appears the note concerning "Up To" and "After" can be ignored.   The part numbers for the "After" do not appear in the 1963 or 1964 books.

That normally refers to a "before" production date and an "after" production date, as there were changes in parts or production design at that cut-off date.  You will need to know your car's production date...

Mark,

I know for 1962 there were early and late productions. I ran into this when searching for motor mount insulators. In mid season they changed the motor mount on the K-frames from horizontal to approx. 45 degrees. There may have been other changes also. I need to call you so Tom and I can stop by, he is interested in some parts, he's having computer problems receiving emails.

In my 1962 Parts Book,I was looking up a part number for my Sport Fury
It listed 2 different Part nos. for the same item.

One had a Note: For AFTER Cars
The 2nd    Note: Up to Cars

There was not any footnotes or S/N s provided

What does the note refer to?
