what is C_D ignition

I am looking at one of rick ehrenbergs electronic ignition  conversion kits for the cuda. I asked him what kind of coil he would suggest with this kit. His response:" Any stock or stock spec coil is fine. A coil designed for C-D ignition is not"

 I am drawing a blank.  What is CD? What is a mallory coil?
