I would have them turned enough to clean them up. A car can sit a few months out in wet weather and have rotor issues because of rust. Just replaced some chattering rotors on a Toyota
Avalon my son bought because of that. On my ’62 wagon was getting the pulsing thinking it was the new-ish disc rotors – but turned out to be the drums in back. My guess is it got driven with the parking brake on, then
parked and some brake shoe material deposited to the drums. Those drums were also new-ish from converting to removable drums. Had them turned enough for a nice cross-hatch – pulsing gone........... Your local NAPA or similar auto parts store - with machine services in the back room can turn and surface. Had National do those drums, and surface the exhaust manifold mounting port
surfaces. Oh and hot-tank services well worth the cost..... From: 1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx]
On Behalf Of Great Grandma 62 My car has been sitting for 3-4 years and I'm working on getting it back on the road. I had a front brake disk conversion a few year ago. What I am seeing is a rust build up on the stopping service of the rotor and the brakes are pulsing
when I stop. I know I can have the rotors turned and that will take care of the rust. But just curious if there is another way.
